Mayor Reardon is on location at Plantwerks for this edition of the Mayor’s Corner. He, Molly Ettenborough, Susan Harvey and Deb Green are promoting the Forever Green Newburyport Campaign to encourage eco-tourism and community sustainability. They will be supporting a variety of local and regional organizations that are already working hard to reduce waste and increase awareness. This campaign will run from late March through the end of April with various events being held in and around the city. NBPT Rec received a Regional Community Impact Award from the Massachusetts Recreation and Park Association for its ability and willingness to pivot and continue to provide programming to both children and adults as they look for a permanent home. Mary DeLai has been appointed to the Whittier Tech School Committee as the Newburyport representative. The next Whittier Tech Task Force meeting will be held at Amesbury City Hall on Wednesday, April 3rd @ 3:30 p.m. All are welcome. Newburyport’s Human Rights Commission will celebrate Ramadan 2024 with a Community Iftar. Muslims fast each day from sunrise to sunset during the month of Ramadan. Iftar is the daily breaking of the fast. Join local Muslims, neighbors and friends for Iftar and a traditional meal to celebrate on Wednesday, April 3rd at the NHS Cafeteria from 6 – 9 p.m. Please join Mayor Reardon, organizers and sponsors on Saturday, March 30th at 11 a.m. outside City Hall for the raising of the Transgender flag to celebrate and raise awareness for the Transgender Day of Visibility.
