In this edition of the Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Reardon begins with an update on NBPT Rec (formerly NYS). The City Council’s Community Service Committee will meet on Monday, March 4th from 5 – 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers to discuss the plan for the building at 59 Low Street. There will also be a public meeting in the City Hall Auditorium to discuss the MEVA bus routes in Newburyport on Thursday, February 29th @ 5 p.m. All are welcome. Plans for a Whittier School Task Force made of district leaders to update the regional agreement are well underway. The Yard Waste Facility will be opening on Tuesday, April 2nd. Also, a reminder that Colby Farm Lane Recycling Center located at 23A Colby Farm Lane is open the first Saturday of every month from 8 AM to 12 PM. There are also additional hours on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:15 PM – 2:15 PM, weather permitting. No chemicals or paints will be accepted. Mayor Reardon’s State of the City will be held on Wednesday, February 28th @ 7 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium. Lt. Gov Kim Driscoll and Mayor Reardon will speak, followed by the Mayor’s Public and Community Service Awards. All are invited to attend.
