In this edition of the Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Reardon begins with a thank you to NCM Hub Port Media for broadcasting every meeting from City Council and School Committee, as well as basketball games, hockey games and most recently the Whittier School Project Info Night. He also recognizes the amazing job that DPS did during this last winter storm to keep our City’s streets cleared and our residents safe. He provides a re-cap of Tuesday night’s Whittier Project Information Night and informs residents that the presentation and link to the meeting are available on the City website at: Whittier School Building Project | Newburyport, MA (cityofnewburyport.com) The vote to decide whether the $444.6M project will move forward will be on January 23 between 11 am and 7 pm and Newburyport residents are to vote at their regular polling locations. Absentee ballots are available in the City Clerk’s office and the Council on Aging will be providing transportation for seniors who need a ride to their polling places. On Thursday, January 18th at 6:30 pm, the City will be hosting a community meeting in City Hall Auditorium to present the latest drawings of the Newburyport Recreation Center at 59 Low Street. There will be no office hours during the next two Fridays. Finally, the State of the City address will take place on February 28th at City Hall. The Mayor will present awards to the Community and Public Service award winners at the conclusion of the Address.
