In this edition of the Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Reardon begins with a Happy New Year wish to all! He re-caps Tuesday night’s inauguration ceremony for both City Council and School Committee here at City Hall. He is excited for the new year, newly elected officials as there is lots to accomplish. He thanks City Clerk Richard Jones and his staff for the wonderful ceremony. He updates us on the pending storm. At this time, 3 – 6 inches are predicted. Mayor Reardon is happy to announce that the City will once again hold the annual Public and Community Service Awards program in order to recognize some of the City’s most dedicated, selfless and generous residents and public servants. The awards ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the State of the City address on February 28th. The City of Newburyport will host a regional community information session regarding the proposed Whittier Regional Vocational School Building Project on Tuesday, January 9th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Nock Middle School. All communities are welcome. Come hear about what is being proposed and how it would impact the 11 communities that make up the Whittier School District. The vote is on January 23rd from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Absentee ballots are available in the City Clerk’s office. There is no early or mail-in voting.
