The City of Newburyport will observe Veterans Day on Monday November 11, 2019. Veterans and their families and all residents are encouraged to join us at the schedule of the day’s activities below
MONDAY NOVEMBER 11TH – VETERANS’ DAY
10:15 AM Gather at Pond Street in front of CVS
10:45 AM Parade to City Hall – all are welcome to march
- Newburyport Fire Department
- Newburyport Police Color Guard
- United States Coast Guard Color Guard
- Patriots for American Veterans (PAVO) Motorcycle Contingent
- Veterans and their families
- Elected Officials
- Newburyport High School Marching Band
- Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies
- Families and Friends
11:00 AM Newburyport City Hall:
- Invocation – Major Todd Hughes, Newburyport Salvation Army
- National Anthem – Newburyport High School Marching Band under the direction of Steve Cohen
- Recitation of the names of recently departed veterans –Mayor Donna D. Holaday. Memorial Bells
- Veteran Memories and Remembrances – Kevin Hunt Newburyport Veteran Agent
- Patriotic Music – Newburyport High School Marching Band under the direction of Steve Cohen
There will be limited seating available in front of City Hall, but arrive early to guarantee a seat. If the weather is poor, the ceremony will be in the City Hall auditorium at 11:00 AM.
11:45 AM (Approx.) Continue parade around Market Square, up State Street to Veterans Cemetery at the base of Pond Street:
- Mayor Holaday places Memorial wreath at monument
- Musical selection Newburyport High School Band
- Benediction – Major Hughes
- Newburyport Police Honor Guard Rifle Salute
- Taps – Conclusion of Newburyport Veterans’ Day
