From the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency:
The National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories for most of southern New England for Tuesday and Wednesday, where heat index values between 95 and 100 degrees are expected.
Newburyport may see temperatures as high as 102 degrees on Tuesday and 100 on Wednesday.
Excessive Heat Watches have been issued for parts of the Connecticut River Valley as well as eastern Massachusetts for Tuesday and Wednesday, where heat index values may reach 105 degrees.
Although the worst of the heat and humidity will be Tuesday and Wednesday, it’s possible these conditions will last into Thursday as well, although confidence is low that heat index values will reach 95 degrees or higher.
Scattered thunderstorms Thursday may produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall.
The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) is operating.
