I wanted to express my sincerest gratitude to the Newburyport DPS crew who spent hours in the frigid weather to replace a 100 year old 12 inch cast iron water main that broke on Saturday morning. I also wanted to thank DPS Director Tony Furnari & Water Distribution Manager Dan Lynch who coordinated these efforts for the City. Thanks again to the Newburyport Fire Department who assisted in pumping out the flooded basement of the Starboard Galley. Finally, I truly appreciate the patience that the residents and businesses who were without water for most of the day showed during this time that allowed our crew to fix the water main. The City will be following up with an ongoing assessment of the repairs this upcoming week.
